While around 20 children were evacuated from Gaza on Thursday to receive medical treatment for the first time since the closure of the Rafah crossing, more than 10,000 other individuals were waiting to be evacuated from the Palestinian enclave to receive medical care, especially for traumatic injuries, cancers, and other chronic illnesses, announced the Head of the UN World Health Agency (WHO).
The Head of the WHO, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, welcomed the medical evacuation of these 21 children suffering from cancer while stressing that there were still 10,000 patients to be treated, and who still need medical evacuation, as reported by the UN.
