Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open: Ons Jabeur and Osaka, schedule and everything you need to know

The WTA 500 Abu Dhabi 2024 tournament, set to take place at Zayed Sports City, is anticipated to feature a stellar lineup, including Ons Jabeur, Naomi Osaka, and Emma Raducanu. Ten of the world’s top 20 players are expected to compete in this prestigious event. The second edition of the tournament kicks off with the singles qualification rounds on Saturday and will continue through to the final on Sunday, February 11.

– The 20 players confirmed so far for direct entry into the main draw are: Elena Rybakina (Kazakhstan), Ons Jabeur (Tunisia), Maria Sakkari (Greece), Barbora Krejcikova (Czech Republic), Beatriz Haddad Maia (Brazil) , Jelena Ostapenko (Latvia), Caroline Garcia (France), Magda Linette (Poland), Sorana Cirstea (Romania), Anhelina Kalinina (Ukraine), Jasmine Paolini (Italy), Lesia Tsurenko (Ukraine), Emma Navarro (United States) , Liudmila Samsonova, Daria Kasatkina, Anastasia Potapova, Veronika Kudermetova, Naomi Osaka (Japan, wildcard), Emma Raducanu (Great Britain, wildcard), Alexandra Eala (Philippines, wildcard);

– TV broadcast: For those who will not be able to participate in the Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open, the tournament will be broadcast live and unencrypted on Abu Dhabi Sports.

Although the singles tournament is the primary focus, the doubles event will surely draw more interest this year with the presence of two of the game’s biggest stars: Ons Jabeur along Naomi Osaka.

While both players are better known for their singles careers, Osaka has competed in the women’s doubles at all four Grand Slam tournaments, while Ons has played at the US Open, Australian Open and Wimbledon before partnering Serena Williams at Eastbourne in 2022, where they reached the semi-finals but were forced to withdraw due to Ons’ injury.
