Navalny says he will return to Russia on January 17

Russian opposition leader Alexey Navalny affirmed on Wednesday he would return from Germany, where he has been healing from the alleged poisoning to his homeland on January 17.

His declaration comes soon after the country’s Investigative Committee opened an inquiry into Navalny’s suspected spending of funds obtained through various non-profit organizations for personal reasons.

Earlier, the Russian Federal Prison Service (FSIN)  Navalny to return to Russia by December 29 or face a prison sentence for violating his suspended jail term.
