Out of a total of 11,887,412 inhabitants, 2,912,818 live in Greater Tunis, representing about 25% of the Tunisian population according to a population estimate issued by the INS on January 1, 2024. Greater Tunis comprises four governorates: Tunis, Ariana, Manouba, and Ben Arous.
As a reminder, by decree number 183, published in the Jort on April 4, 2024, the green light was given to organize the 13th general population and housing census (Rgph). This operation started at the end of April.
