Netanyahu fires Defense Minister Yoav Gallant

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office announced on Monday the dismissal of the country’s Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, citing “significant gaps” in the management of the war between Netanyahu and Gallant.

“In light of this, I decided today to terminate the term of office of the Minister of Defense,” the statement reads. “I made many attempts to bridge these gaps, but they kept getting wider. They also came to the knowledge of the public in an unacceptable way, and worse than that, they came to the knowledge of the enemy — our enemies enjoyed it and derived a lot of benefit from it.”
