New UK Foreign Minister: First statements on Gaza

In his first public statements after his appointment, David Lammy insisted on the necessity for an “immediate cessation of hostilities” in the region. He also highlighted the significance of the release of the hostages. “I will do everything in my power to help US President Joe Biden achieve a ceasefire,” he said.

This announcement comes on the same day that the new British Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, revealed the composition of his government, following the landslide win of the Labor Party in the elections. This triumph ends 14 years of conservative domination.

A government of change

In accepting his role as Prime Minister, Keir Starmer vowed to unify and rebuild the United Kingdom, while implementing the reforms promised by the Labor Party during the election campaign.

This major political transition marks a important turning point in the country’s recent history, with high expectations for substantial changes in domestic and foreign policies.
