Omicron arrives in France, 1st case seen in Paris area

The health authorities of the Ile-de-France region unveiled in a statement on Thursday that the first case of an infection with the coronavirus’ Omicron variant has been registered.

The infected person is a man between 50 and 60 years of age, who returned from Nigeria in late November, the announcement read. France’s official first Omicron case was detected on the Reunion Island, located in the Indian Ocean.
