Colorado Springs Police Department announced on Thursday that one person died in gunfire outside the El Paso County Courthouse.
According to the security body’s statement on X, law enforcement “responded to a call for service regarding a shooting at the El Paso County Courthouse. Once on scene, officers located one deceased individual with apparent gunshot wounds.” The authorities are treating the incident as a homicide and have detained one suspect. The courthouse will remain closed for the day due to “police activity.”
The police labeled the shooting as an “isolated incident” and reassured that there was no danger to the community.
