One dead, six missing after yacht sinks off Sicily

A luxury yacht named the “Bayesian” sank off the coast of Sicily in a tornado, resulting in one fatality and six people missing, Italy’s Coast Guard said on Monday.

The incident occurred at approximately 5 am local time near Porticello in the province of Palermo. The yacht, measuring 50 meters in length, had 22 crew members on board.

Currently, rescue divers are attempting to reach the sunken hull, which is located around 49 meters below the surface. Local media reports indicate that 15 individuals, including a one-year-old infant, have already been saved from the vessel.
