More than 100 people were killed after a massive landslide hit Kaokalam Village in Enga Province in Papua New Guinea, according to local media.
“It has occurred when people were still asleep in the early hours and the entire village has gone down … From what I can presume, it’s about 100-plus people who are buried beneath the ground,” the president of the Porgera Women in Business Association, Elizabeth Laruma, told ABC News.
While the authorities have yet to confirm this number officially, residents claim that the death toll could potentially be much higher.
