Pakistan’s Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) stated that a 5.9 magnitude earthquake struck the Balochistan province in Pakistan in the early hours of Thursday, causing the deaths of at least 20 people and injuring more than 300.
Furthermore, emergency services are currently in the affected areas trying to mitigate the damage and help with the ongoing recovery efforts. PDMA Director General Naseer Ahmed Nasir stated that the earthquake caused landslides in the mountainous areas and that houses close to the epicenter have been destroyed.
Home Minister Mir Ziaullah Langove stated that five of the six districts in the province have been affected on a “major scale,” adding that teams are still collecting data on the incident and assessing the situation.
