Palestine extends state of emergency for 30 more days

Palestine on Wednesday declared an extension of the state of emergency by 30 days, official Palestinian news agency WAFA reported.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas issued a presidential decree, allowing the renewal of the emergency state for another month starting June 4.

The decree is part of Palestine’s efforts to fight the COVID-19 pandemic, WAFA said.

Abbas declared a state of emergency right after the first cases of the coronavirus were confirmed in the West Bank on March 5 for the maximum legal period of 60 days. He then declared a new emergency state on May 4 for 30 da
