Papua New Guinea hit by 7.6-magnitude quake

Papua New Guinea was hit by a 7.6 magnitude earthquake on Sunday, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported on Sunday.

The “earthquake occurred as a result of normal faulting at a depth of approximately 90 [kilometers] km beneath eastern Papua New Guinea, near the northern edge of the Australia plate,” the USGS specified.
