Price Point: Wafer Cookies increases by 18% in month and half

As part of its price observatory, the Tunisie Numérique crew carries out weekly monitoring of the costs of consumer products for Tunisian households.

Prices are brought directly from the public media of a major distribution brand and exclude promotions.

The prices involve national brand products.

The evolution of prices makes it possible to characterize the effective inflation for each product.

Today, focus on the Wafer Biscuit, an everyday consumer product. We see a substantial price increase:

  • 11/21/2023: 0.930 TND
  • 10/01/2024: 1,100 TND

This increase represents inflation of 18%, or 0.170 TND more in less than two months.

It should be recalled that, according to the INS, the average inflation rate for the year 2023 stands at 9.3%.
