European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen repeated the European Union’s support for Ukraine on Friday, adding that Russian President Vladimir Putin will “pay a heavy price” for the invasion.
Answering questions during a joint press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, she explained that monitoring Russia’s behaviour is of paramount importance, especially in regard to Moscow’s attempts to circumvent sanctions. Stricter sanctions will be imposed if necessary, Von der Leyen stressed.
