Qatar’s Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Majid Al-Ansari said on Monday that his country is “cautiously optimistic” about a ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas.
Speaking at a press conference, Al-Ansari noted that Israel’s Mossad chief David Barnea left Doha, but technical negotiations are still in course with a focus on humanitarian aid and reaching a temporary ceasefire agreement.
Furthermore, the spokesperson warned that Israel’s announced operation in Rafah will lead to a humanitarian catastrophe, stressing that Israel must be held accountable for the lives of civilians in the Gaza Strip.
