Putin officially wins election with 87.28% of votes

Russian President Vladimir Putin has been re-elected as the head of state for the fourth time with 87.28% of the votes cast in the election, the country’s Central Election Commission (CIK) stated on Monday.

With the count concluded, the Communist Party’s Nikolay Kharitonov won 4.31% of the votes, followed by State Duma Deputy Chairman Vladislav Davankov 3.85%, and the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia’s (LDPR) Leonid Slutsky 3.20%.

The voter turnout stood at 77.44%.
