The Criminal Chamber of the Tunis Court of Appeal confirmed this Monday, the initial judgment against Rached Ghannouchi, leader of the Ennahdha movement. Ghannouchi was condemned to one year in prison and a fine of 1,000 dinars. In addition, he will be subject to administrative control for three years from the expiration date of his jail sentence.
This decision follows a complaint lodged by a security unionist, accusing Ghannouchi of advocating terrorism. The accusation is based on remarks made by Ghannouchi during the funeral oration of a leader of the movement in early 2023, where he described the police forces as “taghout” (tyrant).
