Ramadan carnage: 3 deaths per day on roads

“Since the start of the month of Ramadan until today, 400 road accidents have been registered, causing more than 90 deaths and 600 injuries,” declared a member of the executive board of the Tunisian Association of Road Prevention, Achref Yahyawi. And it too is based on statistics from the National Road Safety Observatory and the report on Civil Protection interventions.

The same source added that in 48 hours we documented 16 deaths and 160 injuries for 400 fatal accidents. “The country’s situation in terms of road safety is catastrophic when we see the average accidents, deaths and injuries recorded annually,” he asserted.

Remark that in 2023 the National Road Safety Observatory recorded 1,115 deaths and 7,655 injuries following 5,572 road accidents…
