The International Gas Union (IGU) has issued its report for the year 2024. The report shows the ranking of countries in terms of imports and exports of natural gas.
According to this report, global gas markets remain in a delicate balance, with limited growth in supply while demand is growing steadily, up 1.5% in 2023, with an expected acceleration to 2.1% by the end of 2024. Asia continues to be the key driver of this growth, while North America and the Middle East are leaders in exports.
Gas demand is anticipated to continue to grow as it has in the last 4 years, without additional production, a global supply deficit of 22% is expected by 2030. If demand continues to strengthen, the deficit will be more pronounced. This underlines the urgent need to step up investments.
