Resignation of Israeli government spokesperson

Elon Levy, Israeli government spokesperson for the English-speaking press, resigned this Sunday, after nearly three weeks of suspension from his functions due to his public criticism of British Foreign Minister David Cameron.

On March 8, Cameron called for more trucks to enter Gaza, to which Levy replied on Twitter, hoping the minister would be aware of the lack of constraints on the entry of food, water, medicines, or relief materials in Gaza. He challenged London to send 100 aid trucks a day to test the Israeli response.

The publication prompted a demand for an explanation from the United Kingdom, wanting to know whether Levy’s comments reflected Israel’s official position.

According to the daily Yedioth Ahronoth, this dispute was only one of the multiple reasons leading to Levy’s suspension. Among them, his participation in a dance show during the conflict, without permission, and the dissemination of false information regarding the mutilation of an Israeli body after the October 7 attack, which impacted the credibility of the Israeli government.
