The Russian Defense Ministry stated on Friday that it intercepted the United States naval destroyer, USS Chafee, from entering the country’s borders.
The ministry said that the US vessel ignored repeated warnings, continuing to try to cross the Russian border in the Sea of Japan. However, the US ship abandoned its attempts following the arrival of Russia’s own naval destroyer, Admiral Tributs.
Lastly, the defense ministry labeled these actions as a “gross violation of international law.”
