RUSSIA’S RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE CRIME OF AGGRESSION
On July 3, the International Center for the Prosecution of Crimes of Aggression began work in the Hague. Russia’s crimes are already investigated by the International Criminal Court, the European Court of Human Rights, the International Court of Justice.
Ukraine is making efforts to create a Special International Tribunal for the Crime of Aggression. Russia’s political and military leadership is directly responsible for aggression.
The idea of establishing a Special International Tribunal has already been supported by a number of countries, as well as the European Parliament, the Parliamentary Assemblies of the Council of Europe and the OSCE.
MOSCOW’S HYPOCRISY TOWARDS AFRICAN COUNTRIES
On July 27-28, the 2nd Russia-Africa Summit will be held in St. Petersburg.
Through its African policy, Russia seeks to overcome the international isolation in which Russia found itself due to aggression against Ukraine.
In communicating with Africa, Russia appeals to anti-colonialism. Moscow condemns Western imperialism, although it is waging an imperialist war against Ukraine.
Russia is a deeply xenophobic country, in which attacks on “non-white” citizens and foreigners are widespread, racist rhetoric is openly allowed.
Russia is leading neocolonial expansion in Africa, using Wagner mercenaries to impose undemocratic regimes and exploit the natural wealth of African peoples.
CONDEMNATION OF RUSSIAN TERRORISM
On July 4, the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly recognized Wagner Group as a terrorist organization and Russia as a state sponsor of terrorism.
International recognition of the terrorist nature of the modern Russia continues. Wagner Group has already been recognized as a transnational criminal organization by the Office of Foreign Assets Control of the U.S. Department of the Treasury.
The responsibility for creating, supporting, and directing the actions of the Wagner terrorists is entirely on the Russian leadership. Putin has publicly acknowledged the financing of these mercenaries from the national budget of Russia.
