Russian war against Ukraine: Present situation (Ukrainian Embassy in Tunisia)

SITUATION AT THE FRONT  

• The Ukrainian Defence Forces continue their offensive operations in the Azov Sea region.
• Synchronized with the escalation in the Middle East region, Russia stepped up its new offensive in Ukraine. The most difficult battles continue at the Avdiivka sector of the front. Russian invaders tried to advance under the cover of artillery, missiles and aircraft.
• Russian Blitzkrieg failed: at the cost of colossal losses, the Russians only partially improved their positions.
• The well-coordinated work of the Defence Forces of Ukraine yielded results. The attack was repulsed, combat work on the de-occupation of Ukrainian territories continues.

RAMSTEIN-16 RESULTS  

• On October 10, the 16^th meeting of the Contact Group on Defense of Ukraine in the Ramstein format was held in Brussels. For the first time, the President of Ukraine took part in the Ramstein meeting.
• The meeting in Brussels showed the stability of the partners’ support for Ukraine. Ukraine’s partners agreed on the priority supply of ammunition, missiles, and tanks needed on the battlefield as well as additional air defence systems.
• Practical preparations to provide F-16 aircraft to Ukraine are underway.

EXPANSION OF GRAIN CORRIDORS  

• On October 10, the President of Ukraine announced the opening of a new grain corridor through Moldova and Romania.
• The problem of maritime export of Ukrainian food was caused by Russian aggression against Ukraine. Moscow does not take into account the interests of traditional consumers of Ukrainian food, in particular the most vulnerable to hunger African countries.
• Despite Russian aggression, Ukraine is actively engaged in finding new solutions to preserve grain exports with acceptable prices. Ukraine has established fruitful cooperation with Romania (through which almost 60% of the total Ukrainian grain export is already transported).
