Russian war against Ukraine: Present situation (Ukrainian Embassy in Tunisia)
MILITARY ADVANCEMENTS OF UKRAINIAN ARMY
Over the past week, the Defense Forces of Ukraine conducted a series of successful strikes on strategic targets in Russia.
It includes Ryazan Oil Refinery, which plays a key role in supplying the Russian occupying army; storage facilities for Russian attack drones in the Orel region; microelectronics plant in Bryansk, which produces a wide range of chips and components used in strategically important weapons systems; oil depot in the Voronezh region; the infrastructure of the Smolensk Aviation Plant, where combat aircraft are modernized and manufactured.
Striking arsenals and destroying stocks that serve a long-term war create serious logistical problems for the Russian army, thus significantly reducing its offensive capabilities.
SANCTIONS PRESSURE ON RUSSIA
The USA stance on sanctions against Russia is already clear. The EU will also act resolutely.
The current sanctions will be extended, and the 16th package will arrive soon and be strong. Banking sector, shadow fleet, metallurgy, energy, IT, and other sectors. More American or other non-Russian gas in Europe is about security.
Ukraine is grateful to the EU and its member states for their continued strong support for Ukraine. Sanctions work. Slowly but surely.
FOOD FROM UKRAINE: SUPPORT FOR SYRIAN PEOPLE
In the last days of 2024, Ukrainian delegation led by Foreign Minister paid a visit to Syria. First, to support the Syrian people, bring more security and stability to this region.
One of the outcomes was the expansion of the Ukrainian initiative “Grain from Ukraine” into “Food from Ukraine”. In practice, it means that already now, together with partners, Ukraine started supplying the Syrian people with food products thus confirming its role as a guarantor of global food security.
Ukraine invites other countries and international organizations to join it in this initiative. This is a synergy that has a multiplying effect.
