Saudi FM: Resolving Palestine question in region’s interest

Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al-Saud stated on Sunday that resolving the current situation in Gaza serves the best interest of the region as well as the entire international community.

The foreign minister also stressed the significance of prioritizing the establishment of Palestinian statehood if it proves to be the key to accomplishing peace and security in the area, adding that the international community should “make sure to use all of its resources to make it happen.” Al-Saud pointed out, citing the latest report by the United Nations, that removing all the debris from the Gaza Strip could take up to 15 years, while complete reconstruction of the enclave would take nearly three decades.

“The idea that we can talk about half measures and to discuss where the 2.5 million people of Gaza are going to go without addressing how we make sure something like this does not happen is utterly ridiculous,” the foreign minister told the World Economic Forum in Riyadh.
