Signature of a Memorandum of Understanding on a Living-Lab between the UN-Habitat Office in Tunisia and the University Gustave Eiffel in France

 Paris 12 May 2021- A virtual signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding took place between the Sub-Regional Office of the United Nations Human Settlements Organization (UN-Habitat), in Cairo, Egypt and the Gustave Eiffel University, Champs-sur-Marne, France.

This agreement signed by Erfan Ali, Representative of the Regional Office for the Arab countries of UN-Habitat and by Agnès Jullien, International Vice-President of the Gustave Eiffel University, aims at providing a framework of cooperation in which UN-Habitat and Uni Eiffel by implementing a “Living-Lab” to transform the cities of Tunisia by ensuring the inclusion of the most deprived within the framework of the implementation of the 2030 Agenda.

In Tunisia, the agreement will focus on the development of three axes: Transformed and inclusive cities, Inclusion of the most vulnerable people and support to the implementation of the SDGs particularly SDG 11, which supports all actions to ensure that cities and human settlements are inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable.

With this collaboration, UN-Habitat promotes Social protection for the most vulnerable but also encourages to take advantage of their experience and their important role in the community in respect of their rights and needs.

UN-Habitat, in the framework of its urban inclusion policy, pays particular attention to leaving no one behind, especially homeless people and migrants, who are real actors of change and cohesion within their communities.
