Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico is currently undergoing surgery and his condition is “extremely serious,” Defense Minister Robert Kalinak said on Wednesday.
“The Prime Minister is still in the operating room, he suffered a serious polytraumatic injury and his condition is extremely serious,” Kalinak added during a press conference.
Earlier in the day, Fico was targeted in Handlova, Slovakia, following a government meeting, when an assailant fired at him, hitting his chest and stomach.
