Sonia Dahmani prosecuted after statements on Tunisian prisons

The ninth indictment chamber of the Court of Appeal of Tunis decided to refer attorney Sonia Dahmani, under arrest, to the criminal court of the Court of First Instance of Tunis.

This decision follows a complaint filed against her by the General Administration of Prisons after statements she made concerning the situation of prisons in Tunisia.

Sonia Dahmani is accused of having deliberately employed information and communication networks and systems to produce, disseminate and prepare false information and attribute unproven facts to defame others and harm public security, targeting a public official.
