South Korea approves use of remdesivir for COVID-19 treatment

South Korean Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) gave approval for using Gilead Sciences’ drug remdesivir as a treatment for COVID-19, the ministry announced on Wednesday.

Last week, South Korea allowed imports of remdesivir from the United States as the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC) central clinical review board agreed on a need to use it to reduce patients’ recovery period and mortality rate from the infection.
