South Korea’s daily rise in virus cases highest since March

South Korean health authorities said on Sunday that 279 new coronavirus infections were registered in the country since the previous update, marking the largest daily increase in cases since March 8.

The Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC) noted that 85% of infections came from Seoul and the surrounding Gyeonggi Province.

Due to the rising number of cases, the South Korean government tightened social distancing measures in the capital for the next 14 days.
