Spain to send extra €3.5 million in aid to UNRWA

Spain will provide an additional €3.5 million for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) to help it maintain its operations in Gaza in the short term after many countries decided to suspend funding for the agency due to Israel’s allegations that at least 12 UNRWA employees were involved in Hamas’ attacks on October 7, Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albares  announced on Monday.

Speaking at the Congress, Albares stressed that UNRWA is an “indispensable organization” whose work “is more necessary than ever.” Earlier, Spain assured it does not intend to cut funding for the agency.
