Florida Governor Ron DeSantis declared a state of emergency for Broward, Collier, Lee, Miami-Dade and Sarasota counties after heavy rains engulfed the southern part of Florida causing “major” flooding.
DeSantis ordered that the Florida National Guard and Florida State Guard be activated “as needed,” the executive order signed by the governor shows. Under the order, “medical professionals and workers, social workers, and counselors with good and valid professional licenses issued by states other than the State of Florida” may provide their assistance during the emergency.
