The Tunisian Electricity and Gas Company has revealed its readiness to manage peak electricity consumption during the summer of 2024 without resorting to automatic periodic cuts, contrary to rumours circulating on social media. They have assured customers that all required measures have been taken to reinforce their infrastructure, including production establishments, transmission lines, and distribution networks.
The first director responsible for the central management of the electricity transmission network, Mounir Hajeij, formerly said that the power cut will be periodic, distributed among all parties, with a time frame varying between 15 and 30 minutes, according to current data related to the exploitation of the electrical network. Overall, the company aims to guarantee a reliable electricity supply throughout Tunisia by implementing these measures and conducting awareness campaigns to promote energy consumption efficiency among consumers.
