Switzerland: Suspension of a professor from Bern University for comments favorable to Hamas

A professor at the University of Bern, Switzerland, has been suspended after making positive remarks about Hamas attacks in Israel on social media.

The university called the statements “unacceptable” and declared that the professor would be suspended immediately. The identity of the professor has not been disclosed, but the comments are also under inquiry to determine whether they fall under criminal law.

The professor replied by saying he had always criticized violence against civilians and attacks against Jews, fundamentally rejecting Hamas’ policies.
