Syria: 50% increase in civil service salaries and retirement pensions

To cope with the upsurge in prices, Syrian President Bashar Al Assad decided on Monday a 50% wage increase for state civil servants and public sector retirees. This increase will be applied from March 2024.

As a reminder, the year 2023 was observed in Syria by a dizzying increase in prices. In a demonstration against this surge in prices, several protests took place in different regions of the country.
