Bahaa Al-Din Sharm, Syria’s Minister of Transport, revealed that Damascus International Airport could be ready to receive flights within a week. In a statement to “Al Arabiya Business,” the minister added that all airport staff had been instructed to return to work.
Formerly, the airport issued a NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) regarding aviation safety, confirming the suspension of all flights until December 18. According to the notice, all flights to and from Damascus International Airport were halted until 19:00 UTC on December 18, when operations are expected to resume.
Similarly, Aleppo International Airport issued a notice suspending all flights until the evening of December 17.
Anis Fallouh, the director of Damascus International Airport, said last week that “the airport will resume operations within days,” following the suspension of all flights from the Syrian capital’s airport after the fall of the Assad regime.
