The Syrian army announced that Israeli jets struck the central T4 airbase in Homs region and that its air defences subdued several missiles in strikes that prompted only substance damage.
An army spokesman reported to state media that four Israeli missiles struck the base, but related air defences intercepted numerous others that were brought down. State television earlier did not state who was behind the raid.
Israel has regularly raided Iranian backed militia points in Syria, maintaining its goal was to halt Tehran’s military presence in the war-torn country.
According to Reuters, The T4 airbase, which Western intelligence references say has been employed as a base for Iran’s Revolutionary Guards, was struck several times by Israel in recent years.
