Torrential rains in Algeria: Several dead and hundreds injured

Algeria, especially the central and eastern Wilayas of the country, encountered torrential rains, and the meteorological services confirmed that they would continue until this evening, Saturday, February 17, 2024.

The rain caused severe traffic accidents, resulting in, 5 deaths and 263 injuries. The most serious accident happened in the state of Constantine, where a bus carrying supporters of the Annaba team overturned. The accident caused the death of the driver and injured 57 people.

In the province of Bejaia, 51 students were injured after the bus they were taking on a tourist trip overturned.

Jijel Civil Protection also intervened to save families trapped in their houses by the floods.
