A tsunami warning was issued in Japan on Wednesday after an earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 7.3 struck off the coast of the Fukushima Prefecture, the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) said.
According to local media reports, the quake was felt in Tokyo as people reported buildings were shaking. Tokyo Electric Power Company said power outages in parts of the Japanese capital following the tremor affected 2 million households.
The broadcaster NHK noted that warnings were issued of more possible earthquakes in the Fukushima, Miyagi and Yamagata prefectures.
