Tunisa-Ukraine Ambassador to Tunisia : I’m a Father to all Tunisian students I will do all my best to return them back to Ukraine to continue studying

Tunisie Numérique had the honour to conduct an exclusive interview with Ukraine’s ambassador to Tunisia Mr Volodymur Khomanets.

The aim of the interview is to give voice to Ukraine to counter Russian propaganda, Russia began its war on  Ukraine on 24 February 2022.

The ongoing full-scale fighting has resulted in a major refugee crisis and tens of thousands of deaths and severe damage to Ukraine’s infrastructure.

The aggression has received widespread international condemnation. The United Nations General Assembly passed a resolution denouncing the invasion and demanding a full withdrawal of Russian forces.

During the course of the interview, Mr Khomanets shed the light on a number of issues including the faith of Tunisian students studying in Ukraine, the African-Ukrainian relationship, the Ukrainian diaspora in Tunisia, the impact the war had on Ukraine and the post-war reconstruction.

Speaking with empathy and emotion, Mr Khomanets father of three and a grandfather to a little girl interrupted the interview as he received a message from two of his sons living in Ukraine who were under Russian missile attacks at the moment of the interview.

Asked about the faith of Tunisian students studying in Ukraine, Mr Khomanets said that a lot of Tunisians lived in Ukraine before the war adding that they are evacuated successfully and 100 percent of them want to return to Ukraine, especially students.

“I know them I feel it because I’m not only the ambassador of Ukraine here I could say like a father to not only my sons under the attacks in Ukraine I’m a Father to all Tunisian students I will do all my best believe me to return them back to Ukraine to continue their study in my country “, he said.
