Tunisia- 14 illegal migrants rescued off Kerkennah

A unit of the national navy on Saturday afternoon rescued 14 Tunisians from drowning after water leaked to the boat’s engine, which was 48 km south-east of Kerkennah Island. The passengers are between 17 and 29 years old.

According to a press release from the Ministry of Defense, the latter set off on Friday morning from the coasts of Gabes in order to illegally reach the European coasts.

They were taken back to the port of Zarzis, the governorate of Medenine, where they were handed over to the units of the National Guard to make the necessary arrangements against them, the same source indicates.
