Tunisia: 1,718 “Orfi” marriage cases recorded in recent years

The practice of Orfi marriage has taken off in Tunisia mainly in recent years. Official statistics recently issued by a Tunisian Arabic-language media reveal that about 1,718 marriage cases outside legal proceedings (“ôrfi” marriage) have been registered over the past five years and in various governorates of the Republic.
