Tunisia-250 migrants rescued by coast guard

The National Guard revealed on Monday, August 8, 2022, 2022 that more than 250 migrants were “saved” by the Tunisian coast guard while they were attempting to cross the Mediterranean to Italy.

“The maritime authorities were capable to save 255 candidates for migration, including 170 people of various sub -Saharan nationalities, the rest are Tunisians,” said the same source.

It added that “17 separate crossing attempts occurred overnight between Friday evening and Saturday morning from the east coast of Tunisia”.

Remark that the press release did not reveal whether boats had had difficulties or had flowed, but stated that an amount of unspecified money had been seized during the operations.
