The National Union of Tunisian Journalists (SNJT) communicated through an official press release that 34 physical assaults cases have been recorded against local journalists between July 16 and September 16.
The attacks targeted 36 journalists including 20 women and 16 men working in seven local radio stations, 7 local television channels, 2 electronic websites, an official news agency and a daily newspaper.

The journalists were assailed while covering the first qualifying round of 2019 early presidential elections in 15 governorates.
Moreover, The SNJT promptly issued specific recommendations for the journalist and the Independent Higher Authority for the Elections (ISIE) to follow these cases and investigate them, before forwarding the reports to the SNJT.
