Tunisia-48-hour strike by postal workers

The agents of the National Post Office will be going on a 48 hours strike on January 19 and 20, 2022, according to a strike notice, on Thursday, December 23, 2021, and signed by Slaheddine Salmi, deputy secretary-general of the Tunisian General Union of work (UGTT) in charge of offices and public establishments.

According to the notice, the strike will begin on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at 6 p.m. and end on Thursday, January 20, 2022, at 6 p.m.

Concerning the reasons for the strike, the union makes five points:

  • Failure to comply with concluded deals
  • Lack of human resources and work supplies and equipment
  • Failure to complete negotiations on the rules of procedure
  • Non-review of premiums
  • Failure to comply with the Post Code and failure to develop the competitiveness of the office.
