The quantities of cereals amassed until June 28, 2022, attained 5.3 million quintals, registering a slight growth of 3% compared to the previous harvest. On the same date in 2021, the quantities collected were 5.2 million quintals, the cereal office reported.
These are 4.702 million quintals of durum wheat (88% of the quantities accumulated), 0.252 million quintals of soft wheat (5% of the quantities collected), 0.377 million quintals of barley (7% of the quantities collected) and 1,568 quintals of triticale.
The national collection comes at 59% from the north-western governorates, i.e. 3.135 million quintals, while the north-eastern and central governorates delivered respectively 1.308 million quintals and 890 thousand quintals i.e. respectively 24% and 17%. Still, according to the Office, the majority of the quantities accumulated go to the governorate of Beja with 1.490 million quintals, representing a rate of 28% of the quantities collected (including 92% of durum wheat), followed by Jendouba with 836 thousand quintals (16% quantities collected).
Bizerte is in the third position with a percentage of 15% followed by Siliana with 11%. The governorate of Kef achieved only 8% (including 21% from Barley) and Kairouan 7%. The other regions registered a collection level of 15%.
