The director of the Reproductive Health Association, Arzek Khantich stated on Monday, September 28, 2022, that about 5,400 people were reached by HIV (AIDS) in 2021.

She told Mosaique FM, that 2,400 women, 2,800 men and 200 children under the age of 15 are affected by the virus.

“This figure should be revised upwards if we took into consideration civil society polls and immigrants from sub-Saharan Africa, whose contamination rate is high,” she added, adding that the latter are not counted by the National Statistics Institute (INS).
