Tunisia-59th Anniversary of Bizerte Battle commemorated

Bizerte honoured, on July 19, the 59th Anniversary of Bizerte Battle which occurred from July 19 to 22, 1961.

A ceremony of commemoration was held at the Martyrs’ Square of Bougatfa where the national flag was raised as the national anthem was being performed. The Local governor, the Sheikh of the city, members of the organising committee as well as several officials and MPs attended the ceremony.

A wreath of flowers was laid to give respect to all the martyrs of the region and the country who died during this battle as well to those who lost their lives to free Tunisia from the French colonisation in a bid to establish the State and then the second Republic.
