Tunisia: 7.433 million quintals of cereals collected

The quantities of cereals amassed, as of August 5, 2022, in the different production regions, reached 7.433 million quintals, according to the Cereals Office.

The quantities are classified as follows: 6.683 million quintals of durum wheat, 0.343 million quintals of soft wheat and 0.407 million quintals of barley and triticale. In a press release issued on Sunday, the Office recollects that the payment arrangements for farmers have begun since the last week of June 2022, specifying that the rate has reached 85%.

Payment operations continue with the follow-up commissions for the collection season. According to the same source, the quantities collected, which reached almost one million quintals of durum wheat, will cover demand until the end of 2022.

Efforts are currently concentrated on mobilizing the internal and external financial resources required to secure the continuation of scheduled import operations in order to meet the demand for soft wheat and barley, in addition, to financing durum wheat import operations to cover the requirements of the next five months of 2023.
